1. BY AIR Aerodrom Ljubljana – Jože Pučnik Airport Ljubljana Ljubljana Airport is open every day from 6:00 until 22:00. The Jože Pučnik Airport is with regular schedule flights linked to most major European cities. For your travel you can choose from numerous carriers, who offer regular flights to Slovenia.
The Jože Pučnik Airport has excellent bus connections with Ljubljana. The bus brings you directly into the city centre,from where you can by public transportation reach the desired hotel or the Jože Stefan Institute.
2. BY CAR You can best get to know a country if you visit it by car. You can reach Slovenia via one of the border crossings with Italy, Austria, Hungary or Croatia, or you can rent a car in one of our car rental agencies. Slovenia’s highways are good and clearly signposted, beside the roads you will find rest stops, inns with overnight accommodation, and motels.
3. RAIL TRAVEL You can travel to Ljubljana in modern and comfortable trains from most major Slovenian cities. Connections abroad are also excellent: you can come to Ljubljana on direct lines from Italy, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Yugoslavia and Macedonia. Train travel is convenient and inexpensive. 4. BY BUS It is also possible to reach Slovenia from neighbouring countries by bus. International bus transport is well organized and relatively inexpensive.
The Jože Pučnik Airport has well organized bus connections to Ljubljana. By bus you arrive in the center of Ljubljana, near the train station from where you can get to the choosen hotel or to the Jozef Stefan Institute.
The public transportation in Ljubljana is organized by buses (Ljubljanski potniški promet – LPP). The ride can be paid only with an Urbana card . It can be bought at most of the tobacconist shops, at the Central bus station of Ljubljana and a number of shops and department stores. You may also buy the Ljubljana Card, which brings you many special offers. With this card you are entitled to free rides on the Ljubljana public transportation buses, free admittance to museums & galleries. Additional information about the card can be found here.
In front of the main train station is located the bus station. Take the bus number 9 (direction Trnovo). At the second stop get off and take the bus number 1 (direction Mestni Log) or number 6 (direction Dolgi Most). The bus number 1 stops directly in front of the Jožef Stefan Institute entrance (bus stop Jadranska). Number 6 on Tržaška cesta, which is 5 minutes of walking away from IJS.
