{"id":16377,"date":"2024-09-16T11:38:02","date_gmt":"2024-09-16T09:38:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/is.ijs.si\/?p=16377"},"modified":"2025-03-26T14:16:47","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T13:16:47","slug":"segmentation-of-students-with-special-needs-at-the-university-of-ljubljana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/is.ijs.si\/?p=16377","title":{"rendered":"Segmentation of students with special needs at the University of Ljubljana"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Andrej Ko\u0161ir, Janja Ko\u0161ir and Janez Zaletelj<\/p>\n<p><strong>ABSTRACT<\/strong><br \/>This paper deals with the identification and interpretation of seg-<br \/>ments of students with disabilities at the University of Ljubljana.<br \/>The data on which this segmentation is based are the students\u2019<br \/>responses to a dedicated questionnaire created through an op-<br \/>erationalization process according to the selected aspects and<br \/>objectives of the segmentation.<br \/>The segmentation aimed to identify homogeneous groups of<br \/>students with disabilities in order to 1. improve the understanding<br \/>of students\u2019 needs, 2. prepare reliable data for the selection of<br \/>technological support for students and 3. create the basis for<br \/>a subsequent project on ICT-based support for special needs<br \/>students.<br \/>Through the operationalization process, we identified five ar-<br \/>eas (aspects), namely 1. technology and overcoming academic<br \/>barriers, 2. technology and academic outcomes, 3. ICT and aca-<br \/>demic obligations, and 5. technology and overcoming academic<br \/>barriers. Based on student responses, we identified segments for<br \/>the first three areas, with all three areas well covered by three<br \/>segments each. We identified three segments in each area: 1.<br \/>Technology Enthusiasts (accept everything), 2. Skeptical Users<br \/>(reject everything but the exceptions), and 3. Picky Users (accept<br \/>almost everything but the exceptions). From the second and third<br \/>segments, we extracted the main characteristics by technology<br \/>and by activity.
